Leih's Cosmetic Sampler's Close Look: Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base

I tried the Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Primer Moisturizer ($69) for a few weeks.  (This is my first review so please bear with me if I do not cover all concerns of makeup wearers.)  I would like to also note I have sensitive skin --normal to dry skin type which may respond differently than oily skin types.

Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer is a creamy texture (but not rich!) found in natural skin care brands.  Think along the lines of Jurlique, Kieh's, Origins.  Some of you may not know Jurlique which is a natural skincare line.  Jurlique is more natural than most brands (at least 94% + up).  Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer + Base reminds me of the textures found in Jurlique and Kieh's.  I have used them both.  So far, so good.

Jurlique Lip Care Balm
Imagine my surprise to find Bobbi Brown, a makeup line that have a moisturizer + primer the texture of my Jurlique line I have used in my young 20s!  💕💕  Specifically, it reminded me of the Jurlique lip balm I used which soothed my lips during winter commutes + walks in NYC sidewalks.  I was pleasantly surprised.  😀  So I give the texture of this moisturizer A+.  (Again, I have sensitive skin:  normal to dry.)

Grapefruit
How about the scent?  It is a natural scent of grapefruit and geranium.  Any girl or women who have used natural skincare line would appreciate this natural scent.  😍  If you have ever switched from a natural scent to heavily fragranced or artificially fragranced skincare, you understand what I mean by the natural scent you love.  Once you use skincare with natural scent, it is hard to go back to heavy fragrances.  Compare it to a vegetarian who tries to eat red meat again.  Urgh!

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer and Makeups

I liked the texture and the scent as soon as I opened the jar.  But I was concerned.  In my opinion, Vitamin C skincare products are better in face oils or serums.  Vitamin C helps even out your skin and protect from the environmental aggressors.  I feel like your skin absorbs Vitamin C well in a serum or face oil.  I have heard complaints of Vitamin C that can irritate the skin in lotion or emulsion.  But let me bypass this subject.

Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer + Base does plump.  It plumps--immediately.  I noticed the puffy cheeks I had in my 20s nearly coming back.  Almost.  Cosmetic users worldwide would agree that as you age, your skin becomes thin, loose, and saggy.  This is not a lifting serum but it plumps--thanks to skincare science of Hyaluronic Acid!  Your cheeks look fuller.  😲

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid has been everywhere in skincare.  The new Hyaluronic Acid skincare research has formulated serums and creams that can boost moisture in your skincare routine.  Aha!  Your skin becomes plumper from this boost in moisture. So Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer + Base does plump!  😊

My only concern is the Vitamin C in a cream.  Vitamin C can be good for your skin and should be used routinely.  I personally like Vitamin C in a serum better.  Also be concerned that anytime you use Vitamin C or brightener to use a high SPF.  Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer also has grapefruit oil which natural skincare users know as a photosynthesis.  That means use caution with any citrus oils which can make your skin sensitive to light!  SPF 15 may be too low for a skin undergoing brightening!  Shoot for SPF 40 or higher!

Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer also works as a primer so you may like the all-in-one multiuse.  Primers help your makeup apply better and more evenly.  Smooth out your look; complete your look with a primer.  Seal it with a good SPF and makeup--BB Cream (casual), Compact Powders (non-fussy + touch-ups), Foundation (full-look).

Other Hyaluronic Serums or Moisturizers I have used and recommend for girls + women this spring/summer:

Dr. Barbara Sturm's Hyaluronic Serum, $325.

(Pending review this spring.)

Shiseido Essential Energy Hydrating Cream, $50.
